CBF president: the national team coach position must be taken by a Brazilian © EuroFootball.com

The Brazilian Football Confederation has rejected reports that former Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola may take over the national team, as they want to see a local coach in this position. After head coach Mano Menezes was dismissed from the Brazilian national team, reports emerged that the most likely candidate to take his place is P. Guardiola. "There is a very small chance that a foreign specialist will take over as coach. We won five World Cups when the national coach was Brazilian, so I don't think we need a foreigner's services," stated Jose Maria Marinas. "Menezes worked diligently at this job, but his results were poor - only 21 wins out of forty matches. However, the past is the past, now we need to think about the future and analyze the most suitable candidates to take over as coach of the Brazilian national team," concluded the CBF president.
