FIFA has announced a list of 15 midfielders who are contenders for the symbolic FIFA/FIFPro World XI. These players have joined the five goalkeepers and twenty defenders previously announced. On November 29, the fifteen candidates for the forward position will be revealed.

More than 50,000 footballers from around the world voted for the candidates. The final list, which will include one goalkeeper, four defenders, three midfielders, and three forwards, will be announced on January 7, 2013.
