Former Argentine national team footballer Claudio Caniggia believes that his compatriot Lionel Messi is the best footballer of his generation and he insists that the forward is on par with the legendary Diego Maradona and Alfredo Di Stefano.
The star of Barcelona is considered one of the best players in the history of football. The 25-year-old footballer has already won the "Ballon d'Or" award three years in a row, and this year L. Messi is also a contender for this title.
"This is the era of Lionel Messi, there is no doubt. It's not really important whether he is the greatest footballer of all time, but he is certainly the best of his generation," Caniggia stated.
"I am very proud that Argentina has three of the greatest footballers in history – Maradona, Di Stefano, and Messi," added the 45-year-old Argentinian.
This season, L. Messi has continued to prove that he is one of the best footballers in history – in 20 matches played, the forward scored an impressive 26 goals.
