Scolari will once again train the Brazilian national team © EuroFootball.com

Former Chelsea club and Portugal national team strategist Luiz Felipe Scolari has been appointed as the head coach of the Brazilian national team today.

Last week, Mano Menezes was dismissed from this position, so the 64-year-old Brazilian agreed to once again take over his country's national team from a fellow countryman.

Scolari previously coached the Selecao over 10 years ago and triumphed in the 2002 World Cup with the team. The 2014 World Cup will take place in Brazil, so the coach will seek to repeat this success after two years.

"I feel more motivated, younger, and I believe I can do this job. We have an obligation to win the title of World Champions. We are not the favorites, but we plan to become them during the tournament. Third or fourth place is not good for a team that has won five World Championships," said the coach.

Carlos Alberto Parreira, who coached the national team in the 1994 World Cup, will be Scolari's assistant. At that time, the Brazilians won their fourth title as planet champions.
