On Sunday evening, the last matches of the sixteenth round of the French "Ligue 1" championship were played.
Marseille's "Olympique" team suffered a crushing defeat in front of their own fans. Elie Baup's players lost 0 - 3 to the "Lorient" team.
The visitors took the lead in the 38th minute, when Jeremie Aliadiere successfully converted a penalty kick from 11 meters. In the second half, "Lorient" solidified their victory with precise strikes from Benjamin Corgnet and Kevin Monnet-Paquet.
In the later Rhone derby, "Olympique Lyonnais" team claimed victory by a narrow margin, defeating the "Saint-Etienne" players away from home. Michel Bastos scored the only goal of the match, while the hosts' goalkeeper Alejandro Alonso made it easier for the opponents by receiving his second yellow card and being sent off the field.
The match between "Bordeaux" and "Reims" ended goalless.
