On Saturday, in the Lithuanian football "A Lyga" championship, the sixth round of matches took place, with no major surprises recorded, and victories were achieved by teams considered favorites.

The league leader Panevezys "Ekranas" secured their sixth victory out of as many possible, in the most interesting match of the round, defeating second-placed Klaipeda "Atlantas" with a minimal margin in an away game. Defender G. Paulauskas scored the winning goal for Panevezys at the beginning of the match.

The defending champions "Kaunas", with a new coach, bounced back from the previous round's defeat and crushed Vilnius "Zalgiris" at home, with the former Zalgiris coach E. Riabovas on the opponents' side for the first time. The league's top scorer R. Beniusis scored twice for the winners, while A. Velicka and G. Barevicius each scored once.

Vilnius "Vetra" secured their fourth victory, this time defeating "Siauliai" at home. The hosts took the lead thanks to a goal from R. Vaneikis, and soon after G. Butavicius equalized with a penalty kick. The victory for the Vilnius team was sealed by a goal from E. Blazys in the second half of the match.

Kedainiai "Nevezis" continue to struggle, suffering a heavy defeat against "Suduva" in Marijampole, failing to earn any points and scoring only one goal, remaining the absolute outsider. D. Maciulevicius scored twice in this match for the team from Suvalkija, as did T. Radzinevicius, G. Slavickas, and V. Afanasenko.

In the latest match, the neighboring teams in the league table, "Vilnius" and "Silute," faced each other. Although the hosts had a territorial advantage for most of the match, the visitors scored the only goal of the match after a counter-attack in the 38th minute and celebrated their third season victory.
