London's "Arsenal" club announced on their official website that five promising British footballers have signed new contracts with the team.
Defenders Jack Wilshere, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Aaron Ramsey, Carl Jenkinson, and Kieran Gibbs have all signed new long-term contracts with the club.
The oldest of this group is left-back Kieran Gibbs, who turned 23 in September.
Team manager Arsene Wenger still hopes that forward Theo Walcott, with whom contract negotiations have been ongoing for some time, will also secure his future with the club. However, an agreement has not been reached yet, and there are rumors that the Englishman may leave the club.
The Frenchman did not hide his joy about the new players' contracts: "We are delighted that these young footballers have agreed to tie their future with the team. Our plan is to build a team whose core will consist of talented young players. This way, they can develop more quickly."
