The president of the Lithuanian Football Federation (LFF), Julius Kvedaras, associated with various criminal groups, becomes a growing burden for Lithuanian football. Several businesses that financially supported Lithuanian football have already cut ties with the LFF. Some openly, others unofficially speak that one of the main reasons for such a decision are scandals accompanying the LFF and its leader.
A company that has supported LFF and the A league for a couple of years, "General Financing," confirmed to the portal lrytas.lt that they are withdrawing from the ranks of LFF sponsors. "Our decision to withdraw is indeed related to various scandals in which the names of LFF and its leader J. Kvedaras are mentioned," said Konstantinas Balakinas, the CEO of "General Financing." - These scandals directly damaged the image of "General Financing" as an LFF partner.
Another partner leaving LFF is the globally renowned brand "Carlsberg." The long-time sponsor of European football championships, UEFA, and many famous clubs (such as the legendary "FC Liverpool") came into Lithuanian football back in 2007.
The recent scandals, the current federation leader's connections to various criminal figures, and investigations into possible illegal enrichment have forced this sponsor to terminate the partnership with LFF.
