The England national team has the potential to win the 2014 World Cup, according to coach Roy Hodgson.
The specialist responded to the statement of legendary English footballer Sir Bobby Charlton, in which he claimed to not see any possibilities of winning the trophy in the tournament taking place in a year and a half.
"Of course, we are certainly not among the main favorites, but in football the term 'impossible' does not apply," said Hodgson. "There are quite a few facts that confirm that."
England won the World Cup only once in 1966, but since the 1996 European Championship, they have failed to reach beyond the quarterfinals in major tournaments.
"Let's remember who thought that Chelsea would triumph in the Champions League, especially in the middle of the season changing the coach," added Hodgson. "And yet on the way, they defeated Barcelona and Bayern Munich - two of the best teams in Europe. That's why I want that dream to be alive."
