The strategist of London's Arsenal club, Arsene Wenger, confirmed that during the January transfer window, he will be busy trying to strengthen the team.
In recent weeks, the Gunners have been linked to several players, and ahead of Saturday's match between the London team and Newcastle club, Arsenal's coach revealed that he wants to acquire players who would immediately strengthen the team.
"Yes, I will be busy. I won't mention names, as you, the media, will find them yourselves. We can secure a Champions League spot with what we have, but we will try to strengthen. However, it is not always easy to find players for sale who would improve our game," the Frenchman explained at a press conference.
"We want players who would bring benefits immediately, but sometimes finding them is not easy. Manchester United signed Robin van Persie for £24 million, even though he is already 29. They have scouts all over the world, so don't think they just came to me and bought a forward. They searched elsewhere, but it is not easy to find a top-quality player who would strengthen the Premier League side," Wenger continued.
The strategist also stated that he is prepared to release players who are not getting playing time, but at the same time dismissed rumors that Andrey Arshavin already has one foot at Reading club.
"No, I haven't received any calls from Reading. If he finds a solution that satisfies him, we will certainly consider it," the Frenchman said.
