Barcelona's club president Sandro Rosell hopes that head coach Tito Vilanova will soon return to the team's helm.
The 44-year-old strategist underwent a second throat operation in mid-December, during which a small recurrent cancerous growth was removed.
The Catalonia team's coach still faces at least a six-week course of chemotherapy, but doctors previously predicted that T. Vilanova would be able to combine the treatment process with work with the players.
The operation was successful and no complications arose, so S. Rosell remains optimistic.
"I hope that Tito will be able to lead the team again in 15-20 days, but we all understand that the most important thing now is the coach's health, and football is just a secondary matter. I think he will be able to balance work with treatment. T. Vilanova will be given more rest, as I want to emphasize that his health is currently the priority," stated the Catalonia team leader while visiting in Dubai.
In the last matches of 2012, Barcelona's assistant coach Jordi Roura replaced T. Vilanova, who is battling the insidious disease. Under his leadership, Catalonia's team players won 3-1 away against "Valladolid" and continue to lead confidently in the Spanish championship.
