Chelsea coach Rafael Benitez stated that he would like to continue having Frank Lampard, who demonstrates fantastic athletic form, on the team, but according to the Spaniard, he cannot determine the veteran's future.
"My task is to help Lampard maintain a high level of play. His contract is still valid, and the player is trying his best.
"I have to train the footballers, win matches, and not express my opinion," Benitez said.
It is said that due to the club owner Roman Abramovich's plans, F. Lampard will be forced to leave the team as early as January.
Another target of the Russian owner is veteran John Terry, who has a contract until 2014, which will not be extended.
