The International Federation of Football Statistics and History (IFFHS) recognized Spanish national team and Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas as the best goalkeeper of 2012.
The 31-year-old goalkeeper beat out competitors such as Petr Cech (Chelsea), Victor Valdes (Barcelona), Gianluigi Buffon (Juventus), Manuel Neuer (Bayern), and Joe Hart (Manchester City).
Casillas collected 224 votes, surpassing second place Buffon by 96 votes. This is the fifth IFFHS Best Goalkeeper of the Year award in Casillas' career.
In 2012, Casillas became European champion with the Spanish national team, and also won the Spanish Primera division with "Los Blancos".
