"Barcelona" is soon planning to offer a new contract to the team's main goalkeeper Victor Valdes and hopes that negotiations will be concluded quickly and successfully.
As reported by the sports newspapers "El Mundo Deportivo" and "Sport" in Catalonia, the 30-year-old Valdes, represented by agent Gines Carvajal, should soon sit down at the negotiation table with representatives of "Barcelona" to discuss the conditions of the future contract.
According to unofficial information, the Catalan, whose current contract is valid until the summer of 2014, is being offered an additional four-year contract, valid until June 30, 2018.
Valdes has been playing in the main lineup of "Barcelona" since 2002, and throughout his career, contracts with him have already been extended twice - in 2005 and 2009.
Traditionally, the Catalonia club, which "armors" its most important players with high release clauses, does not seem to intend to make an exception. The current goalkeeper's release clause is 100 million euros, but it is planned to increase it to 150 million euros.
