On Tuesday, a meeting of the Discipline Committee took place at the Lithuanian Football Federation, during which violations that occurred in the sixth round of the "A League" and in other national competitions were discussed, and certain penalties were imposed, as well as the protest of "Atlantas" was rejected.
The representatives of Klaipėda's "Atlantas" club, who suffered a defeat at home against "Ekranas," were very dissatisfied with the refereeing in these matches and claimed that the referees were biased and made decisions favoring the Panevėžys team.
Subsequently, the seaside club decided to file a protest, but it was rejected because the league's statutes state that protests regarding referee decisions cannot be made. Instead, the Discipline Committee recommended "Atlantas" to address their protest to the Lithuanian Football Referees Association.
"Atlantas" not only achieved nothing by protesting but was also penalized for disorder during the match, as after the game, the fans and the head coach of "Atlantas" team entered the field to confront the match referee, unsatisfactorily performing their duties. For these incidents, the club received a fine of 200 euros, which the coach Igoris Pankratjevas will also have to pay.
The strategist Vytautas Vaškūnas of Kėdainiai's "Nevėžis" received a fine of 200 euros and a one-match suspension - he did not act appropriately towards the referee during a very unsuccessful match against "Sūduva" and was sent to the stands for this.
The Discipline Committee limited itself to a warning when considering the behavior of "Vėtra's" president Romas Stašauskas during his club's home match against the "Šiauliai" team, in which the club's president insulted the match inspector.
"Žalgiris" forward Vidas Kaušpadas, representing the reserves of "Polonija," received a three-match suspension for hitting an opponent, while the player Albertas Bogdanas from "Vėtra-2" also received the same penalty.
