Seventh round: "Kaunas" snatched the victory © EuroFootball.com

On Tuesday, four matches of the seventh round took place in the Lithuanian "A lyga" championship: the defending champions "Kaunas," with a new coach, snatched victory from "Atlantas," the leader "Ekranas" won for the seventh time, and two matches ended in a draw.

The team from Kaunas, now led by the new coach A. Piskariovas, unexpectedly conceded a goal by A. Laurišas from Klaipėda's "Atlantas" in the 31st minute and trailed for a large part of the match. However, in the 82nd minute, team captain D. Sanajevas equalized the score, and with two minutes left to play, E. Poderis secured a dramatic victory and three points for the Kaunas team.

It was a difficult match for the championship leader Panevėžys' "Ekranas," who, after a fierce battle at home, managed to defeat the absolute championship underdog, Kėdainiai's "Nevėžis." The visitors resisted the opponents' attacks for some time, but in the 78th minute, V. Kavaliauskas scored the winning goal for the Panevėžys team.

The match in Šilutė ended in a draw - the hosts took the lead after an hour with a goal by G. Juškos from a penalty kick, but T. Radzinevičius, the attacking leader of "Sūduva," equalized the score after twelve minutes and helped his team secure a draw.

Once again, the "Vilnius" club failed to score, ending the Vilnius derby against "Vėtra" in a goalless draw. "Vilnius" came closest to scoring at the end of the first half, when a shot by M. Pankos hit the crossbar, and towards the end of the match, "Vėtra" was unlucky - a long-range shot by team captain G. Butrimavičius hit the post.

In the final round matches, tomorrow "Žalgiris" will host "Šiauliai" on their home ground.
