BLOG: The Biggest Premier League Intrigues © EuroFootball.com

In the "EuroFootball.com" portal - football fan Subo's BLOGs about current football events.

The "Premier" league has entered the second half. The standings are not what we are used to seeing - few expected that at this stage of the season any team would have a solid lead at the top of the table and that team would be MU (and I was hoping :)).

There are more interesting things - for example, "Arsenal" seriously risks not qualifying for the Champions League after an unbelievably long break. So, the biggest intrigues should be:

1. Will MU maintain their lead and win the EPL?

MU's position is good - +7 points, the team, unlike "Chelsea," "Spurs," and "Arsenal," has avoided major setbacks, unlike MC, rarely has darker days. RvP has been scoring goals since day one... The defense is strong, but on the other hand, the offense is incredible, MC and "Chelsea" lag behind by even 13 goals. Of course, there may be setbacks, but this season's "Chelsea" and MC are not like teams that could not only overcome that lead, but also securely move forward. Of course, there is some advantage that both teams are no longer burdened by the Champions League, but I still don't believe that MU will be left without a title. Yes, the lead may be smaller, but MU should win.

2. Will Rafa last until the end of the season?

Rafa has managed to partially stabilize the ship of "Chelsea." Although the quality of play is far from what Roman and the fans would want, and the results are shocking from generation to generation, the situation in the team is not tragic. Of course, the chances of fighting for the title are doubtful, MC is also slightly ahead, but at least "Chelsea" must take the bronze. There are no guarantees that it will succeed. "Spurs," "Everton," and "Arsenal" are definitely capable of fighting for third place, and among the fans, Rafa is not very popular. The third coach in one season? It is not impossible. This composition certainly cannot afford that much. However, I think that "Chelsea" will end the season with medals, but the coach will be different or at least a man will be appointed who will replace Rafa after the season.

3. How will AVB's project work?

"Spurs" recovered seriously in winter and finally began to demonstrate the game and results that the fans want from them. AVB's projects are starting to pay off. Although December and January were not bad in terms of the schedule, it still does not diminish the good impression. However, the season is long, and "Porto" was the only club where AVB and his team were able to show stable results. In addition, although "Spurs" is not a club with unreasonable demands on the coach, fighting for fourth place against "Everton," WBA, or "Arsenal" and fighting for the title are different things, and "Spurs" based on their capabilities should be more ambitious. Most likely "Spurs" will not avoid setbacks, and the 4th place will suit any other team. On the other hand, I am convinced that AVB's projects will not end there, and he came to the "Spurs" camp for a long time.

4. Will "Arsenal" stay off the Champions League radar this year?

The impression of "Arsenal" this year is twofold. On the one hand, especially at the beginning of the season, it seemed that "Arsenal" could achieve a lot. Santi Cazorla was unreal, the team's game was truly eye-catching. However, the finishing of opportunities was lacking. Of course, when a player like van Persie leaves, any team would feel it. However, I remained optimistic and hoped that the situation would change. However, as time goes on, those magical moments become rarer, Santi, although good, is not so miraculous, and the strikers remained as they were. There are many flashes, but this team lacks stability. And despite the fact that the team is 4th in terms of goals scored in the EPL, it is clear that there are many problems with the offense. The team certainly has potential, so the question arises more and more often, whether the one at the helm of the team is the right one. Still, I believe that "Arsenal" will scrape into the top 4.

5. Will this year mark the true revival of "Liverpool"?

Slowly "Liverpool" is recovering. Of course, the beginning of the season was difficult and full of disappointment, the results remain unstable, but in December, "Liverpool" resembled a fairly serious team. Of course, there are many disappointments - Sahin did not become the savior of the team and had few chances to shine, Anfield has not yet become the Camp Nou of the British Isles, almost half of the club's goals are scored by Suarez... However, interesting young players are emerging, especially Sterling, the newcomer Sturridge scores goals, Lucas returns after injury, so the end of this season could be quite decent. Of course, it is not worth setting cosmic goals right away, but finishing 6th at the end of the season would be fantastic and possible.
