The International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS) has selected the best goalkeeper of the past 25 years, who is Turin's "Juventus" goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon.
In these rankings, the Italian surpassed the 2012 best goalkeeper according to IFFHS, Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas, who remained in second place.
In third place is former Manchester United goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar, and in fourth place is another former goalkeeper of this team, Peter Schmeichel. The top five is completed by the legendary German goalkeeper Oliver Kahn.
IFFHS meticulously selected the best goalkeepers of the last 25 years. Almost all world football experts participated in these rankings, evaluating goalkeepers' performances from 1987 to 2012.
IFFHS compiled a list of 144 goalkeepers, with current Malaga goalkeeper Carlos Kameni at the bottom. Here are the top 25 goalkeepers of the last 25 years.
