Canadian pop music star Nelly Furtado's song "Forca" has been chosen as the anthem for this year's European championship.
N. Furtado, born in Toronto, Canada, speaks Portuguese fluently, as her parents lived in Portugal.
The singer will perform the song live on July 4th, during the final match at the "Estadio Da Luz" stadium. She also plans to record the song in Portuguese.
"As I understand it, the song in Portuguese will be released in June, just before the championship," said UEFA marketing director Alan Ridley during yesterday's press conference.
