Lazio unexpectedly lost at home to the Chievo team. The only goal of the match was scored by Alberto Paloschi for the Roma team.
In the other match, defending champions Juventus let victory slip from their hands against the Genoa players. The "Bianconeri" took the lead after Fabio Qualiarello's goal early in the second half, but former Italian champions striker Marco Borriello scored a goal against his former team and prevented them from pulling away from their closest pursuers.
