On Monday, it was officially announced that London's Tottenham club will be supplemented earlier than expected by Schalke defender Lewis Holtby, for whom they will pay 1.5 million pounds sterling.
The footballer was supposed to join the Tottenham team only after the end of the season, but for some time Andre Villas-Boas had been negotiating with Schalke about L. Holtby's transfer already this winter.
The decision to accept this player was prompted by the main starting goalkeeper Sandro's injury, which will most likely cause him to miss the rest of the season.
The 22-year-old German arrived at Schalke in 2009. During this time, he played 80 matches and scored 13 goals.
