On Tuesday evening, Turkey's "Galatasaray" club announced that they acquired former London "Chelsea" club striker Didier Drogba.

The Ivory Coast national team member signed an 18-month contract with the Turkish team just after spending half a year in the Chinese "Shanghai Shenhua" club. "Galatasaray" outperformed clubs from England and Italy who allegedly wanted to buy the African.

"Big clubs can aim for higher goals with players like this," said "Galatasaray" club director Unalas Aysalas.

"Drogba said he is happy to represent such a big club. He met with our coach and decided to help the Galatasaray team."

During the remaining part of the season, the striker will earn 2 million euros, and in the next season, his salary will increase to 4 million euros. The footballer will also receive 15,000 euros for each match played.

The footballer will meet his new team members after the Africa Cup of Nations tournament, where Drogba represents the Ivory Coast national team.
