An interesting situation occurred during a Greek amateur football championship match. After a player scored a goal, followed by a long period of referee "contemplation," he showed a... blue card to the goal scorer.
As the Greek press writes, goal scorer George Kaldis, after long discussions and arguments from the opposing team's players, admitted that he scored the goal with his hand.
The match referee then showed a blue card.
As explained by the referee, he considered the rare attribute in football - the blue card - for this occasion, if the player acted in a dignified manner. This is a thank you for a "Fair Play" gesture.
"As you can see - it was necessary," - said the match referee.
