Liverpool's "Everton" club strategist David Moyes confirmed that they tried to attract Sevilla forward Alvaro Negredo to their ranks.
The Spanish national team forward became the main target for "Everton" after Moyes' team failed to acquire Leroy Fer from Twente due to health issues.
"Everton" made a €10.4 million offer for the Spaniard, but "Sevilla" was expecting a much higher sum and rejected the offer.
"We wanted to acquire players who could help the team. We tried to do that until the very end, but for some reasons we couldn't. We tried to acquire A. Negredo, but "Sevilla" wanted significantly more money than we offered," Moyes said.
The forward has been playing for Sevilla since 2009, when he moved from Real Madrid to Seville. Since then, the footballer has played 160 matches and scored 66 goals.
