The Italian club "Palermo" has dismissed the coach Gian Piero Gasperini from the position of head coach.

An announcement appeared on the club's official website on Monday, stating that the Italian will no longer lead the team, and the new coach will be announced on Tuesday.

"Palermo" has failed to win in the last nine Serie A matches, and was eliminated from the Coppa Italia tournament after losing to the second division club "Hellas Verona."

Gasperini took over the team in September, when Giuseppe Sannino resigned from the position. The most likely candidate to take over the team is former "Fiorentina" coach Alberto Malesani, who was dismissed from the "Genoa" team twice last season.

"Palermo" is currently in 19th place in the league table. The Sicilian team is 4 points away from the safe zone.
