"Liverpool" defender Jamie Carragher announced on Thursday that this season will be his last as a professional footballer. The 35-year-old defender became a member of "Liverpool" at the age of 9, and made his debut for the first team in 1997 in a match against "Middlesbrough." In total, the footballer has played in more than 700 matches representing the first team, ranking second only to Ian Callaghan in this statistic. "This will be my last season at Liverpool Football Club and my last as a professional footballer. Until the end of the season, I will give my all defending the colors of this team, just as I have done since I joined this club at the age of 9," the footballer announced about the end of his career. "It was a privilege to represent this great club for so many years and I am proud that I did so, and grateful to all the people who have supported me. I have many memories that I would like to share and many people to thank, but there is no time for that now. I will not comment further on this decision until the end of the season. Now I will focus on playing and with the team we will try to achieve a higher position in the league and win the only tournament we are still participating in," said J. Carragher officially to the club's website.
