"Man Utd" strategist Sir Alex Ferguson is convinced that Madrid's "Real" feels more pressure ahead of Wednesday's UEFA Champions League round of 16 match.
The Spanish champions are already 13 points behind leaders "Barcelona" in the national championships, so they practically have no chance of defending their title. Meanwhile, "Man Utd" could extend their lead over their pursuers in England to 12 points after this weekend.
"Real's" goal this season is the UEFA Champions League," said Ferguson. "They are not doing well in the national championships, while "Barcelona" is playing unbelievably well. That's why I have no doubt that Jose Mourinho prioritizes Europe.
"Moreover, let's not forget that he would become the only person to win the Champions League with three different teams - that's a fantastic challenge and opportunity."
The 71-year-old Scot also hopes to avoid any outbreak of rumors ahead of such high-level matches: "Jose knows how to play these games with the press much better than I do. I would advise myself to avoid that, as Mourinho is very smart, so it's dangerous to stand in his way. As long as he brings me a good bottle of wine to the match, I will back down."
And he added: "I watch "Real" matches every week. We know the strengths of our opponents and the great atmosphere that awaits us in Madrid. It's important that I select the right lineup, as this will be the biggest challenge of the season."
