On Saturday, the 8th round of the "A Lyga" championship took place. Panevėžys "Ekranas" continues to hold onto their points without losing, having defeated their main rival for the title of champions, the "Kaunas" club, and achieving their eighth victory. "Vėtra" and "Atlantas" also secured wins, while "Žalgiris" won the Vilnius derby, and one match ended goalless.

Intriguing matches in Panevėžys saw both teams fail to create many dangerous opportunities, with "Ekranas" sealing the victory against "Kaunas" with a precise penalty kick goal by M.Gardzijauskas just under an hour into the game.

Vilnius "Vėtra" capitalized on the Kaunas team's misfortune at home with a minimal advantage, forcing them to surrender to Marijampolė's "Sūduva" team. The victorious goal for the Vilnius team was scored by defender N.Sasnauskas at the end of the first half.

Klaipėda's "Atlantas" equaled points with "Kaunas" by defeating the "Šiauliai" team at home. The visitors initially took the lead after G.Butavičius' goal, but D.Navikas leveled the score approaching halftime, with A.Laurišas scoring twice in the middle of the second half.

The Vilnius derby was won by Vilnius "Žalgiris", breaking the resilience of the "Vilnius" team after A.Jokšas' goal in the 70th minute. It was the third victory for Žalgiris this season, allowing them to rise to sixth place.

The first point in the championship was earned by the debutants and ultimate underdogs Kėdainiai "Nevėžis", holding their ground against the fifth-positioned "Šilutė" and playing to a draw. The next round of the "A Lyga" will be played in a week.
