The reserve goalkeeper for "Barcelona" will stay with the team until the summer of 2014.

On Monday, at the headquarters of the Catalan club, Jose Manuel Pinto and "Barcelona" president Sandro Rosell signed a new goalkeeper contract valid until June 30 of next year.

The current contract of J. M. Pinto would have expired after this season.

According to unofficial data, the goalkeeper's buyout clause remained unchanged at 5 million euros.

In the winter of 2008, "Barcelona" borrowed J. M. Pinto from the Vigo "Celta" team for 0.5 million euros. The Catalans were forced to acquire another goalkeeper because then-backup of Victor Valdes, Albert Jorquera, suffered a serious cruciate ligament injury during a friendly match.

That same summer, the Catalan club took advantage of the possibility stipulated in the loan agreement to keep the goalkeeper for free if offered a two-year contract. Since then, J. M. Pinto has become a permanent backup to V. Valdes, and he is extending his contract with "Barcelona" for the fourth time.
