Recently, the director of the Machachkala-based "Anzhi" club, which has been shaking up the football market with massive deals, German Tkachenka, launched criticism at the English "Premier League" team London's "Queens Park Rangers" for overspending.
Managed by Harry Redknapp and currently occupying the last place in the "Premier League," QPR spent tens of millions of euros during the winter transfer window to acquire new players. The biggest English acquisition was "Anzhi" defender Christopher Samba, for whom QPR paid 14.5 million euros.
"In QPR, he will earn almost as much as he earned with us. In my opinion, they have lost their common sense," Tkachenka said.
Although it is not reported how much the 28-year-old Congo-born defender with dual citizenship from France and Congo earned in the Russian club, H. Redknapp claimed that the defender significantly reduced his salary.
Managed by billionaire Suleyman Kerimov, the "Anzhi" club is located in the restless Dagestan region but plays home matches in Moscow, where they also train.
Tkachenka stated that C. Samba had received threats in Russia to deal with him and his family, which was one of the reasons why the defender left for England.
"He really liked the team, and I hope someday he will come back. C. Samba is a very good defender - one of the top five in Europe," Tkachenka said.
It is worth noting that in recent years, "Anzhi" has acquired players such as Samuel Eto'o (27 million euros from Inter Milan), Yuri Zhirkov (15 million euros from Chelsea), Lacina Traore (18 million euros from Krasnodar Lokomotiv), and Willian (35 million euros from Donetsk Shakhtar).
