The Lithuanian national team received bad news - Marius Žaliūkas, who suffered an injury, will not be able to play for several months.
There is no doubt that the Lithuanian will miss the World Cup qualifying tournament match away against Slovakia on March 22. The next qualifying tournament matches will take place on June 7 against Greece and on September 6 against Latvia.
The defender, who has recently cemented his place in the national team lineup, was injured last weekend while playing for Edinburgh Hearts in the Scottish championship. In the match against Dundee United, he collided with an opponent and, unable to regain coordination, fell awkwardly on the grass.
"This is very bad news. The tendon is torn, and the other is severely damaged. We won't see him on the field in the near future," said Hearts coach John McGlynn.
This season in the Premier League, Žaliūkas played 24 matches and scored two goals.
