Just a few days after firing the coach, on Saturday, in the important 36th round of the Scottish championship, the team crushed and pushed the "Dundee" team to the last place, and Lithuanian A. Skerla scored a goal in this match. Meanwhile, "Hearts" had to admit the superiority of Glasgow "Rangers" away.
After an unsuccessful series in the championship, falling to the last position, which means relegation from the Scottish "Premier" league, on Monday, the head coach D. Hay was fired by "Dunfermline" and temporarily replaced by J. Leishman, who somehow managed to quickly turn the team's game around.
"Dunfermline" crushed the "Dundee" team 5-0 at their home stadium - in the second minute, D. Young put his team ahead, in the 29th minute the same D. Young doubled the lead, and in the 33rd minute C. McDonald scored an own goal. The home team continued to dominate the match, and in the 39th minute, A. Skerla further increased the lead with a great header. In the second half, D. Young scored again and thus completed a hat-trick.
"Dunfermline" crushed their opponents and overtook them in the tournament table by goal difference. However, there are still three points behind "Livingston" since the latter team won with a minimal margin against "Inverness CT" away and now has 34 points, while "Dundee Utd," who played 1-1 with "Kilmarnock," have collected 33 points.
At least temporarily, the championship leader became Glasgow "Rangers," who defeated the "Lithuanian" Edinburgh "Hearts" at home. The hosts were ahead in the first half with a two-goal lead scored by T. Buffel and M. Andrews, and although the latter scored an own goal towards the end of the match, the result remained unchanged.
Injuries prevented Lithuanians M. Kizys and D. Cesnauskis from playing for "Hearts," while S. Mikoliunas played quite successfully from the beginning of the match and was substituted after receiving a yellow card shortly afterward, in the 74th minute.
In the other day's match, third-placed Edinburgh "Hibernian" snatched a point by drawing 2-2 with "Motherwell." In the Sunday match, "Celtic" will try to return to the first place by playing against the "Aberdeen" team. There are two more rounds left until the end of the championship.
