On Thursday, FIFA announced the world national team rankings for the second time this year, with the Lithuanian national team dropping one position down - to 117th.
In less than four weeks, the Lithuanian team earned an additional 3 ranking points. In total, the team has 287 points. The worst position in the entire history of Lithuanian football was in November 2012, when Cs.Laszlo's pupils dropped to 119th place.
The opponents of the Lithuanian national team in the 2014 World Cup qualifiers hold solid positions. Greece is in 11th place, Bosnia and Herzegovina in 24th, Slovenia in 49th, Latvia in 109th, Liechtenstein in 154th.
Elite national teams still dominate the top of the FIFA ranking. Spain remains in first place as the World and European champions, Germany in second, Argentina in third, England rises from sixth to fourth, and Italians move up to fifth place.
