The forward will not be able to play more this season - he faces a serious operation and difficult rehabilitation. D.Milito got injured on Thursday, right at the start of the match.
The injury is strange and gruesome. The footballer twisted his knee when he put his foot on the ground.
"This injury ruined our whole evening. Diego injured his anterior cruciate ligament, lateral collateral ligament, and meniscus. It is a terrible injury that this player has never experienced in his entire career," said "Inter" coach Andrea Stramaccioni after the match.
"The likelihood of experiencing such an injury is one percent, but it happened to Diego. Now we just need to wait for when he will have the operation. These are terrible news. We will take care of him carefully. Personally, I am close to Diego, so I am now disappointed," concluded the "Inter" coach.
There is no doubt that this season is over for D.Milito. Such injuries are usually healed in at least half a year, but it is believed that the forward from Argentina will not be able to play for about nine months.
This season, D.Milito played 20 league matches and scored 9 goals. So his absence is a very painful blow to the "Inter" club.
