On Monday evening, the penultimate round of the English FA Cup eighth finals were played.
Manchester United defeated Reading at Old Trafford Stadium and advanced to the tournament quarterfinals, where Sir Alex Ferguson's players will face the winner of the Middlesbrough - Chelsea pair.
The hosts had some good opportunities to score in the first half, but the ball ended up in the net only in the middle of the second half, with team leaders Robin van Persie, Michael Carrick, and Nani on the field, the latter appearing due to Phil Jones' injury before the break.
In the 69th minute, Nani scored a goal for Reading, and three minutes later, Javier Hernandez scored a goal.
In the 81st minute, Reading's goalkeeper Joshua McAnuffas softened the result, so in the final minutes, you could even see Reading's goalkeeper Adam Federici near David De Gea's goal.
Despite all the efforts of their opponents, Manchester United maintained their advantage and moved on to the next stage of the tournament. The opponent of the "Red Devils" will be revealed on Tuesday evening in the Middlesbrough - Chelsea match.
