Munich's "Bayern" overcame London's "Arsenal" in London without much trouble, but English team's strategist Arsene Wenger doesn't lose hope of reaching the Champions League quarter-finals.
On Tuesday evening at the "Emirates" stadium, the German vice-champions sent the hosts into a deep knockout by winning the match 3-1.
"Let's not hide from the truth. Winning against such an opponent will be extremely difficult, but we need to give it our all and hope for success," said Wenger. "We are fighting on two fronts and now it's probably easier to hope to be among the four strongest teams in the Premier League than to advance to the quarter-finals, but we can't give up in advance."
He added, "We played against a powerful team that took advantage of all the chances they created in the first half. We were nervous, and Bayern trusted in their strengths, so we paid a high price."
Meanwhile, the German team's strategist Jupp Heynckes praised his players: "Arsenal didn't allow us to do much in attack, but we are in such good sporting form that we punish opponents even for the slightest mistakes.
"At times it was difficult to play, we had to give it our all, but even under pressure from the hosts, we looked good."
The return match will take place in Munich on March 13."
