Arsene Wenger will not be fired from his duties as the coach of London's Arsenal, even if the team does not qualify for the next season's UEFA Champions League tournament.
The capital club currently sits in fifth place in the national championship. In addition, they have already been eliminated from the FA and English League Cup tournaments, and lost the first leg of the Champions League quarterfinal at home to Bayern Munich 1-3. These results mean eight years without a trophy, so the fans no longer hide their dissatisfaction.
Nevertheless, the Frenchman, whose contract expires next year, is not facing dismissal, as reported by the BBC. He will have to choose whether he wants to stay with the team or seek a new challenge.
Arsenal's leaders are convinced that the club is moving in the right direction, and improvement in results can be expected only when UEFA financial requirements limiting the spending of major clubs fully take effect.
It is planned that over 80 million euros will be allocated this summer to strengthen the team. In addition, poorly-performing but lucrative contract holders Andrei Arshavin, Sebastien Squillaci, Marouane Chamakh and Nicklas Bendtner will leave the club.
