On Tuesday evening, the second leg of the King's Cup ("Copa de Rey") semifinals was played.
At the Camp Nou stadium, two fierce Spanish rivals clashed - "Barcelona" and Madrid's "Real". After a tough battle, the visitors from Madrid secured their spot in the tournament final.
In the first half, the Catalans had more ball possession, but in the 13th minute Gerard Pique brought down Cristiano Ronaldo in the penalty area, resulting in a penalty kick.
Real's leader C. Ronaldo successfully converted the penalty. In the second half, the royal club did not let up and in the 57th minute, once again, Portuguese player sent the ball into Manuel Pinto's goal.
In the 68th minute, the score became overwhelming when young Raphael Varane scored a header after a corner kick from Mesut Ozil.
However, "Barcelona" managed to soften the result at the end of the match. Defender Jordi Alba scored a consolation goal after a superb pass from Andres Iniesta.
The next semifinal match will be played on Wednesday at 23:00 Lithuanian time. In Seville, the local team "Sevilla" will try to overcome the one-goal advantage against the champions of the Europa League, Madrid's "Atletico".
The final of the "Copa del Rey" tournament will take place on May 18th.
