Raising the level, popularity, and prestige of football in Lithuania - that is the goal set by the National Football Clubs Association, which will be supported in achieving it by the public broadcaster LRT, the portal "15min.lt," and the quick credit company "SMScredit.lt." LRT television will directly broadcast 20 matches of this A League season.

The Lithuanian football championship is celebrating its 90th season. In 1999, it was decided to return to a season schedule more suitable for our climate: spring - autumn.

In the 2013 Lithuanian championship, nine teams will participate - the last five championship winners: Panevezys "Ekranas," Vilnius "Žalgiris," Marijampole "Sūduva," Pakruojis "Kruoja," "Šiauliai," Gargždai "Banga," Alytus "Dainava," Klaipėda "Atlantas," and Tauragė "Tauras."

The first A League, now known as "SMScredit.lt A League," match broadcast will be on March 16, when Vilnius "Žalgiris" will face "Šiauliai."
