Italian "Serie A" football club "Milan", currently in third place in the championship, has renewed the contract with the 20-year-old team leader Stephan El Shaarawy.

The player's former contract has been extended for one year and now is valid until the summer of 2018. "Milan" is trying to protect their young leader from the attention of other clubs, as the 20-year-old S. El Shaarawy has already scored 18 goals and made 5 assists in 33 matches this season. The forward is the top scorer of "Rossoneri".

Born to Egyptian immigrants in Italy, the footballer joined Milan from "Genoa" in the summer of 2011 and is now a key player in the team. The forward, who stepped up this season after the departure of the team's leader Zlatan Ibrahimović, has attracted the attention of clubs like "Manchester United" and "Manchester City".

The Lombardia club paid 15.5 million euros for the forward in 2011, but now some football experts consider him to be worth at least twice as much.

The footballer with Italian citizenship has played for various age groups of the national youth teams - from U-16 to U-21. Last year, he also caught the attention of the national team coach Cesare Prandelli and has already appeared in three matches, scoring a goal.
