In the English Premier League from next season, goal line technology will be implemented, allowing to accurately determine when the ball crosses the goal line.
FIFA tested this method at the Club World Cup at the end of last year and claims that it will soon become a part of everyday football. It is planned to be used at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
All top league clubs will be required to implement goal line technology, including newcomers. However, it is not yet clear which methodology - "GoalRef" or "Hawkeye" - will be chosen. The first is based on magnetic sensors that detect when the ball crosses the goal line, while the second relies on cameras capturing various angles.
