"Manchester United" center-back Rio Ferdinand could soon follow Ryan Giggs's example and extend his contract, says the team's head coach, Sir Alex Ferguson.
The current 34-year-old footballer's contract expires this summer, but he has already expressed a desire to stay with the "Red Devils" team, and Ferguson may fulfill Ferdinand's wish in the coming weeks.
"There is a good chance that it may happen," said the longtime "Man Utd" manager at a press conference. "It should be sorted out by the summer. This season has been successful for Ferdinand."
"He has taken care of himself properly, and we have contributed to that. Rio doesn't play every game the same way Ryan doesn't. Two weeks ago in Madrid, Rio played excellently. We need to prepare him for the important match on Tuesday."
