After Lionel Messi scored a goal causing a lot of talk, it became clear that defender Jordi Alba made the gesture to honor the goal scorer.

In yesterday's "El Clasico" match of the Spanish "Primera" championship, once again the Catalans had to acknowledge Real Madrid's superiority with a 2-1 score.

Just after the end of the match, the Madrid press distributed a photo showing J. Alba allegedly showing the middle finger to the royal club fans.

"By showing the finger, I wanted to say that Lionel Messi is the best in the world and that he deserves the greatest respect," said the Spaniard to journalists.

And the 23-year-old footballer added: "My gesture was not intended for Real's club fans."
