The versatile "Manchester United" player Phil Jones will likely miss the second leg of the UEFA Champions League round of 16 match against Real Madrid.
Jones did not recover in time from an ankle injury suffered in the FA Cup match against Reading last week, said head coach Sir Alex Ferguson.
Speaking at a press conference, the long-time "Man Utd" strategist also stated that he does not yet know if Ryan Giggs, who will be playing his 1000th career match, will start the game or be on the bench.
"Phil did not recover in time and will not be ready for tomorrow," Ferguson said. "His performance in Madrid was excellent. It's a loss for us, but this issue is solvable. We have various options and we hope we will choose correctly.
Ryan will play tomorrow, but I still haven't decided - from the start of the match or coming off the bench. He will be an important player for us."
