On Saturday and Sunday, the first four matches of the 2013 Lithuanian football A League season were played.
The season started with the country's champions Panevėžys "Ekranas" facing Alytus "Dainava". We did not receive any surprises, and the Panevėžys celebrated a 3-1 victory.
The first goal for "Ekranas" was scored by Uchenna Umeh, and shortly after, Arsenij Buinickij increased the lead from the penalty spot.
In the 28th minute, another goal by A. Buinickij secured the victory for the Lithuanian champions. In the second half, "Dainava" managed to reduce the deficit, but "Ekranas" celebrated a convincing win.
Lithuanian football fans were surprised in Marijampolė, where the local "Sūduva" team narrowly lost to Klaipėda's "Atlantas", who were the outsiders of the previous season.
The only goal and the winning one for the Klaipėda team was scored by Andrius Bartkus.
On Sunday in Tauragė, the third match was played. The local "Tauras" and Pakruojis "Kruoja" met at the "Vytautas" stadium. The hosts suffered their first defeat with a score of 1-2.
In the 38th minute, George Alaverdashvilis put "Kruoja" ahead. Within the first 15 minutes of the second half, the same G. Alaverdashvilis increased the lead. Towards the end of the match, Simonas Babilius scored a consolation goal.
In the last weekend matches, Gargždai "Banga" and "Šiauliai" met. The winner of this match was undecided with a 1-1 draw.
The first goal was scored by Gargždai, but in the 57th minute, the equalizer was scored by Arminas Vaskela.
