On Tuesday evening in Vilnius, the second round matches of the Lithuanian football A League were played.
In Vilnius' Maniežas, local team "Žalgiris" met Klaipėda's "Atlantas", who demonstrated character this season. Quite unexpectedly, the guests from Western Lithuania secured a victory with a score of 1-2.
The first half was dominated by open football. In the 2nd minute, Tadas Eliošius broke through from an acute angle and defeated Aivaras Bražinskas.
The hosts' response was not long in coming, as just 4 minutes later an equalizing goal was scored into "Atlantas'" net by Algis Jankauskas.
After the goal, "Žalgiris" regained control of the ball, but a little later the initiative was taken over by the team from Klaipėda, who managed to create a chance towards the end of the half, with Donatas Kazlauskas standing out as the scorer.
In the second half, the game continued to be balanced. Without a doubt, the hosts felt more pressure, but neither team managed to score a goal, resulting in "Atlantas" claiming a minimal victory this season.
It is worth mentioning that in the 88th minute, A. Bražinskas was sent off for a dangerous foul against a Klaipėda player. The goalkeeper's spot had to be taken by a "Žalgiris" player already on the field, as the coach could no longer make substitutions.
