After the match with Slovakia in Žilina, the head coach of the Lithuanian national team, Csaba Laszlo, stated that the team deserved the 1:1 draw.
"The match was very interesting. I think we deserved this point. In the first 15 minutes, we played critically, but in the last 20 minutes we hardly gave the opponents any chances. All things considered, the 1:1 result suits us. I am just a bit disappointed that D.Šernas didn't manage to score at the end of the match.
It's very important that we saw a real team on the field, everyone fought for each other. I hope to see that in the future as well. The players deserved this result. I want to thank the team for their work. We were not afraid to attack, scored an away goal, and had opportunities.
The Slovakian national team is one of the strongest in the last five years, almost all players play in good clubs abroad, they have confidence in their abilities. The opponents today should be disappointed. They played rough and tried to overpower us. But they couldn't because we fought well and showed team spirit.
The Bosnian victory against the Greeks is favorable for us. If we beat Greece in the next matches, we could get closer to them and keep our chances alive to surpass our opponents," the coach said.
