Lord A.Ferguson: I expected the fight for the title to be more stubborn © EuroFootball.com

Long-time strategist of "Manchester United" club Sir Alex Ferguson hoped for a much tougher battle for the titles of the English Premier League.

The defending champions "Manchester City" footballers are trailing by as much as 15 points with 9 games left until the end of the championship and they have to wait for a miracle to defend their title.

The head coach of the league leaders "United" expressed his amazement at this situation in this season's stage.

"In recent years, 'Manchester City' club has greatly strengthened, as well as the big London clubs, who are competing for a place in the top four. I expected these races to be intense," the Scot observed.

"After the last season, we had to ensure that we would not lose due to a worse goal difference. We managed to significantly improve that. However, it never crossed my mind that we would be leading by 15 points at this stage of the season," the coach said.
