The name of Lithuania was heard in a racist context on one of the most popular internet portals in the UK, dailymail.co.uk. In one of the publications, it was written about Adebayo Akinfenwa, a football player from the "Northampton Town" team who played for the Klaipeda "Atlantas" club. A. Akinfenwa shared how fans in the port city called him a "n****" and chanted about killing him.

"In the first preseason matches, I heard: "Zigga, zigga, zigga, kill the f****** n*****", said the football player who wore the "Atlantas" jersey from 2001 to 2003.

"I was 18 years old at the time. I remember thinking, what have I gotten myself into. The next time, an eleven-year-old girl ran up to me, shouted "White power" and demonstrated a Hitler salute in my face," shared memories from Lithuania A. Akinfenwa, currently playing in the fourth tier of the English league.

Having scored 34 goals in 41 matches in Klaipeda, A. Akinfenwa admitted that he wanted to leave Lithuania.

"I called my older brother Yemi and told him I was coming home. But he said to me: "You can go home and let them win or stay and show them who you are. I endured those years," said the 30-year-old football player.
