After a long break, Barcelona's defender Eric Abidal returned to the field and was happy to be back playing football, thanking everyone who supported him.
Yesterday's Spanish league match saw the Catalans crush Mallorca's footballers. In the 70th minute, the highly anticipated E. Abidal stepped onto the field, receiving huge respect at the Camp Nou stadium.
"Many footballers enjoy football and a great life. They spend money on all sorts of things, whether it's a new house or a new car. But when you experience the same fate as I did, you no longer think about new things," the emotional defender revealed at a press conference.
"At that moment, luxury doesn't matter to you anymore, you want to sacrifice all your money for hospitals and children. By investing money in these things, I felt great, it helped me recover faster," E. Abidal insisted.
The 33-year-old former Lyon footballer added: "I want to thank everyone who supported me. Because of you, I am playing football again."
